Andrea Seigel was a second and last child, born in Anaheim, California on October 28, 1979. At age five she was moved to Irvine, and it was here that she began writing short, rhyming fiction- very short fiction (see early writings above). Over her elementary school years she developed her narrative abilities by continuing to produce short stories and by elaborately lying to her childhood therapist.

As a senior at Woodbridge High school, she was the editor of the Xeroxed literary journal and might have won a few English awards from teachers, but doesn't remember. Upon admittance to Brown University she began to plan her transfer to UC Berkeley. Junior year, while at Berkeley, she began to plan her transfer back to Brown.
